I am nervous
Seeing the hanging bridge
Sweaty palms,
A thudding heart,
Shaky legs..
Life held across
By the strength
Of ropes and planks
Feeble and strong
At the same time
My step wavers
But your grip on my hand
Is steadier than ever
As we make our way across
The hanging bridge
The end draws nearer
As I conquer my fears
It no longer terrifies
With you by my side
As we cross the hanging bridge

Step on the bridge and it shakes, actually swings. See down and you're done. Been there, experienced it. Good one :)
ReplyDeleteI couldn't agree more. But it's a learning curve for most of us :) Thank you Shanx :)
DeleteAll along as I was reading it, I was smiling ear to ear :).

Life is such! Everything around us looks so easy and rosy even with just the mere thought of presence of someone we love beside us :)
P.S. The image and the weather in it are perfect for my liking. Loved it a lot and would love to visit that place and cross that bridge if I can get there someday. :)
Somehow strangely enough, your words and the picture reminded me of the Movie Bridge to Terabithia :)
Thanks so much! Yes, the picture is dreamy and romantic, right? I have been on a hanging bridge once and it was just so beautiful.
DeleteSeen that movie long back :)
Lovely poem Aathira :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Reema :)
DeleteI am always terrified of these bridges and even though I will walk across them - it is NOT a pleasant experience. Good poem
ReplyDeleteThanks Carol :) Yes, the bridge looks scary. But it's nice when you are with the right person :)
DeleteLoved the first stanza the most! A lovely composition, somehow reminded me of the rain post I did a few days back. Love is all it takes to conquer great fears :)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Keirthana :) I love the way you weave life into your poems :) And yes, love is all that we need :)
DeleteI know this feeling and I battling that fear. But he is there by my side and it feels all right. :)
ReplyDeleteAwww...! Red, I'm happy for you :) With the one you love by your side, it makes it all worthwhile :)
DeleteReminded me of the palams in Kerala, and I'm still terrified of it.
ReplyDeleteNice composition :)
Thanks Dear :) Yes, there are some scary palams back home! This one reminded me of your blog name 'A walk across the bridge' after I finished writing it!
DeleteMy, what imagery!
ReplyDeleteAnd I saw a bridge almost exactly like this one in Coorg :O
Thank you, PeeVee :) There is something dreamy about these bridges! I haven't seen the one in Coorg. But there is one in Kerala en route to Wagamon!
DeleteYes, with loved ones by our side, the journey becomes easier :)
ReplyDeleteYes, so true. Thanks Jyotsna!
